Hyderabad, Jan 23 (NationPress) The police have escalated their investigation into a horrific crime involving a man who murdered his wife, dismembered her body, and boiled the parts in a pressure cooker.

Forensic experts are currently collecting evidence from the residence located in New Venkateswara Nagar Colony in Jillelaguda, falling under the jurisdiction of the Meerpet Police Station in the Rachakonda Police Commissionerate on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Authorities have discovered bone fragments from the nearby Jillelaguda Lake, where the suspect, Guru Murthy, allegedly disposed of the remains of Venkata Madhavi (35) after cooking them in his home.

The police continue to interrogate the 39-year-old suspect, who is a former serviceman currently working as a security guard on a contract basis at DRDO in Kanchan Bagh.

As per police reports, the couple originates from Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh. They had been married for 13 years and share a son and a daughter. The family had been residing in a rented property in New Venkateswara Nagar Colony in Jillelaguda for the past five years.

The investigation commenced following a report filed by Madhavi’s mother, Subbamma, on January 18, expressing concern over her daughter’s disappearance. The complaint stated that Madhavi had left home after an argument with her husband. Notably, Guru Murthy accompanied Subamma to file this report at the Meerpet Police Station.

In the course of the investigation into the missing person report, police reviewed CCTV footage from the vicinity of the house. They found no evidence of Madhavi leaving, but suspicious behavior from Guru Murthy was captured.

During questioning, Guru Murthy initially attempted to mislead the police but eventually confessed to the crime. However, investigators are cautious and not solely relying on his statements due to inconsistencies in his answers. The accused provided disturbing details regarding his violent actions.

The couple had a dispute on January 16 when their children were away. The suspect struck Madhavi's head with a heavy object, leading to her death. To conceal the crime, he dismembered her body with a knife typically used for cutting meat, then placed the pieces in a cooker to boil them. Subsequently, he packed the remains in plastic bags and discarded them in a nearby lake.

Multiple police teams are actively working to collect evidence both from the residence and the lake. Authorities are expected to release further details once the investigation is concluded. They are also looking into whether the suspect may have harmed a dog and disposed of its remains in a similar manner prior to his wife’s murder.

In light of the shocking nature of this event, neighbors of Guru Murthy have reportedly vacated their homes and left the area.
