Hyderabad, April 25 (NationPress) Muslims in Hyderabad organized protests on Friday to express their outrage against Pakistan for its alleged role in the recent terrorist attack on tourists in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam.
At the behest of All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, worshippers attending Friday prayers donned black armbands as a mark of condemnation for the April 22 attack.
Owaisi himself wore a black band and participated in prayers at a mosque located near his residence in Shastripuram.
He was observed distributing black bands to fellow worshippers.
Outside the iconic Mecca Masjid, hundreds of Muslims demonstrated, denouncing the terror attack and expressing their disapproval of Pakistan.
The protestors, led by local AIMIM leaders, chanted slogans like “Pakistan Murdabad” and “Hindustan Zindabad”.
Following protests against the Waqf Amendment Act over the past two Fridays, the vicinity of the historic Charminar witnessed this anti-Pakistan demonstration.
Volunteers were seen attaching black armbands to worshippers at Mecca Masjid and other mosques across the city.
Owaisi had called on the community to wear black bands to protest the terrorist activities of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) in Pahalgam against innocent Indians.
He urged Muslims and all justice-seeking citizens to showcase their solidarity on Friday, sending a message to foreign forces that they will uphold the unity and integrity of India.
“This attack provides terrorists an opportunity to target our Kashmiri brothers. I implore all Indians not to fall victim to enemy tactics,” stated Owaisi.
On Thursday, the Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad attended a multi-party meeting convened by the Centre in Delhi concerning the Pahalgam attack.
Owaisi expressed that the incident reflected an intelligence failure and urged the Modi government to reassess its deterrence strategy.
He labeled this incident as even more reprehensible than the Uri and Pulwama attacks, highlighting that terrorists from the neighboring country specifically targeted civilians.
The AIMIM chief emphasized that the attack aimed to undermine the tourism sector, pointing out that terrorists chose a location that is not even accessible by road.
On Thursday, the AIMIM organized a candlelight vigil in Hyderabad to express solidarity with the victims of the terror attack. The event was led by the party's MLA from Nampally constituency, Mohammed Majid Hussain.
Individuals from various community sectors participated in the vigil, chanting slogans against Pakistan and the LeT.
