Hyderabadi Boy Found in Uttar Pradesh After a Decade

Hyderabad, Dec 4 (NationPress) A boy who went missing from his home in Hyderabad a decade ago has been located in Uttar Pradesh by the Women Safety Wing of the Telangana Police.
Mohammed Khaleel Ghori was just 12 years old when he was reported missing from his home under the jurisdiction of Kanchanbagh Police Station on August 18, 2014.
As per the Director General of the Women Safety Wing, Shikha Goel, the team comprising the SHE Cyber Lab and the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit successfully resolved this long-standing missing person case.
The investigation revealed that the boy had left home with his Aadhar card. During the probe, authorities discovered a crucial lead when they found that the boy's Aadhar details had been updated, which included a mobile number that belonged to a retired government employee in Kanpur.
The DG mentioned that a special investigation team was dispatched to Kanpur, where the boy was located. The investigation uncovered that after traveling to Uttar Pradesh by train, the boy was taken into custody by the Railway Police at Kanpur Railway Station and placed in a Child Care Institution. He remained there until 2022, when he was adopted by government employee Sanehi Singh, who renamed him Abhinav Singh.
Goel further stated that the special team also resolved two additional long-unresolved missing cases.
A girl, reported missing from Shanthi Sadan Home in Nacharam, Hyderabad in 2015, was found after nine years in Nizamabad by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit. This girl, who was 11 at the time of her disappearance, was discovered to have married Saiba Taru and has two children.
In another case, police successfully located a 10-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy who had been missing from their home in Chandrayangutta, Hyderabad since 2017. They were found in Bengaluru.
Throughout the investigation, the technical team compiled all digital identities of missing children using open-source tools alongside police investigation methods.
According to Goel, Telangana has reported a total of 22,780 missing cases up to November 2024, with 19,191 cases successfully traced. "Our tracing success rate stands at 84.25 percent, significantly higher than the national average of 51.1 percent. The Women Safety Wing actively addresses long-pending cases from various police stations, deploying dedicated teams to locate them. To date, 27 such long-pending cases have been resolved," she stated.
