HYDRAA Initiates Demolition of Unlawful Structure in Madhapur, Hyderabad

Hyderabad, Jan 5 (NationPress) The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) on Sunday initiated the demolition of a multi-storey structure that was unlawfully constructed in the Madhapur region.
The bulldozers assigned by HYDRAA officials commenced tearing down a five-storey building located on 100-Feet Road in Ayappa Society.
This building was constructed on 684 yards without adhering to the necessary setbacks as stipulated by the regulations. Last year, HYDRAA had issued notices to the property owner following numerous complaints from local residents about the building, which includes a cellar and ground floor, allegedly violating a High Court order.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) had also sent notices to the owner concerning the illegal construction.
HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath, alongside officials from the Revenue and GHMC departments, inspected the site on Saturday.
This initiative marks a significant demolition effort by HYDRAA, an organization that was established in July of the previous year.
The government formed HYDRAA to oversee the Telangana Core Urban Region (TCUR) for purposes including disaster management and asset protection.
Its responsibilities include safeguarding government assets such as parks, open spaces, playgrounds, lakes, and nalas within the city.
HYDRAA has faced substantial criticism for its aggressive approach in demolishing several illegal constructions and encroachments.
In August of the previous year, the agency demolished the N-Convention Centre, owned by the renowned actor Nagarjuna, located in the Madhapur area.
This property had been under scrutiny for years due to allegations that it was built within the Full Tank Level (FTL) area and the buffer zone of Thammidikunta Lake.
The N-Convention Centre was accused of encroaching upon 1.12 acres of the FTL area and an additional 2 acres within the buffer zone.
Actor Nagarjuna refuted the encroachment allegations, expressing his distress over the unlawful demolition conducted against existing stay orders and ongoing court cases.
Last week, Commissioner Ranganath reported that HYDRAA had reclaimed approximately 200 acres of land from encroachments, which included 12 lakes, 8 parks, and various government properties, all achieved in less than a year. He also asserted that the agency had redefined the real estate landscape of Hyderabad.
The IPS officer noted that property buyers are increasingly informed about critical elements such as buffer zones, Full Tank Level (FTL), and notary patta, and are taking due diligence seriously.
In the meantime, HYDRAA announced that it will hold Prajavani sessions every Monday, enabling citizens to directly submit their complaints. The agency aims to protect and restore lakes, nalas, and public spaces, while also providing support during natural disasters. Every Monday (excluding government holidays) has been designated for receiving complaints.
This initiative will take place from 11 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. and again from 3.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. at Buddha Bhavan, Raniganj, allowing for both complaints and suggestions from the public. The HYDRAA Commissioner advised that all relevant documents concerning the complaint should be brought to the office along with complete details.
