Gwalior, July 30 (NationPress) Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia announced on Wednesday that individuals trapped in flood-affected regions of Madhya Pradesh's Guna (his Lok Sabha constituency) are being airlifted by the Indian Air Force (IAF).
The Minister mentioned that he had a discussion via telephone with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Air Vice Marshal Vikram Gaur, and Air Commodore Manish Sharma, requesting their assistance in rescuing individuals stranded in the flood-affected zones.
"I am in continuous communication with the district administration, NDRF, and the government of Madhya Pradesh. The safety of every individual is our primary concern, and we are committed to doing everything possible to ensure that," Union Minister Scindia posted on X.
Reports indicate that over 50 individuals are stranded in flood-impacted areas, particularly in Kolaras and Badanwara within Guna and Shivpuri districts. The Gwalior-Chambal region has experienced continuous rainfall for the past three days.
Scindia had also released a video message late on Tuesday night, informing that he had communicated with the collectors of Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar, directing them to offer all necessary support to the affected individuals.
He stated that the district administration has initiated rescue operations in Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar, ensuring that all affected individuals are relocated to safer locations. They will receive comprehensive assistance from the administration and local public representatives.
Union Minister Scindia also urged district BJP presidents and local representatives to step forward and aid the affected communities.
He cautioned the public to stay vigilant, as heavy rainfall is anticipated over the next two days in the Gwalior-Chambal region. The area has been subjected to significant rainfall in recent days.
The Guna district recorded a staggering 247 mm of rainfall within the last 30 hours, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD) report.
