Gwalior, Aug 20 (NationPress) The Union Minister of Communication, Jyotiraditya Scindia, is set to embark on a four-day comprehensive assessment of the flood-impacted regions in his Lok Sabha constituency, Guna, starting Thursday, as announced by an official on Wednesday.
Accompanied by his team, he will tour various villages across Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, and Guna districts, engaging with the local populace.
His agenda includes discussions aimed at evaluating the destruction caused by the recent floods in the first week of this month.
“The people of Guna are like family to me. I strive to support them in their times of need. Over the next four days, I will reach out to those affected by the recent flooding. This visit is not merely an inspection; it is about connecting with them and listening,” stated Scindia.
Earlier this month, persistent heavy rains led to flooding in various parts of the Gwalior-Chambal region, particularly affecting Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar districts, prompting a joint rescue mission conducted by the Armed Forces, NDRF, and SDRF.
More than 400 individuals were airlifted during these operations.
Sadly, over 30 lives were lost due to the floods, with 22 fatalities reported in Shivpuri and 7 in Guna.
Scindia, who became the Lok Sabha MP for Guna following the tragic death of his father, Madhavrao Scindia, in a plane crash in 2001, has always maintained a strong bond with the constituents of his political stronghold. After experiencing a significant political defeat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, he transitioned from Congress to the BJP in March 2020.
In 2024, he made a remarkable comeback, winning his family seat Guna as a BJP candidate by a substantial margin, indicating his intention to sustain a close and consistent relationship with the residents.
During the flooding crisis, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the establishment of over 50 relief shelters to house more than 3,000 individuals.
Throughout this ordeal, Scindia actively sought prompt assistance from both the Centre and State governments while closely monitoring the situation.
On August 5, he conducted an aerial survey alongside Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
