Bhopal/New Delhi, Aug 8 (NationPress) — During a visit to the national capital on Thursday night, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav held a meeting with Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia at his official residence.
The discussion focused on various pressing issues concerning the state's progress and the current conditions of flood-impacted regions, particularly within the Guna Lok Sabha constituency, which is represented by Scindia.
Scindia emphasized the need for the Chief Minister to ensure proper compensation for those affected by the floods. He also requested funding for the restoration of roads and bridges that were destroyed due to the heavy rainfall in his constituency.
According to a statement from Scindia's office, Chief Minister Yadav committed to providing every possible assistance to individuals who suffered losses of crops, homes, livestock, and other valuables during the catastrophic floods that occurred in the last week of July in the districts of Shivpuri, Guna, and Ashoknagar.
This meeting took place just four days after both leaders conducted an aerial assessment of the flood-stricken areas in Guna and Ashoknagar, where Scindia reported that 29 lives had been lost.
Rescue operations involving the armed forces, NDRF, and SDRF teams have successfully airlifted around 400 individuals and relocated them to relief camps established at several locations in Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar.
Significantly, this late-night meeting preceded Chief Minister Yadav's planned event to distribute relief funds to those impacted by natural disasters, excessive rainfall, and floods in Madhya Pradesh.
The assistance will address various losses, including human casualties, livestock deaths, property damage, and other forms of destruction. The fund distribution will be conducted through a single-click transfer during a video conference from the Chief Minister's residence, 'Samatva Bhavan' in Bhopal, where CM Yadav will also interact with some of the flood survivors.
Principal Secretary (Revenue Department) Vivek Porwal stated that relief measures are being extended to those affected by natural calamities, excessive rainfall, and floods during the 2025 monsoon season across multiple districts in the state.
Earlier this week, the state government revealed that over 252 individuals have lost their lives during the current monsoon season, with more than 29 fatalities reported in Guna and Ashoknagar districts alone. In addition, 432 animals and 1,200 poultry birds have perished due to rain-related incidents.
Severe rainfall has wreaked havoc on homes and infrastructure, resulting in the complete destruction of 128 houses and partial damage to 2,333 others. Approximately 254 rural roads have also been affected by the rains, as reported.
In total, around 4,000 people have been rescued from flood-affected areas and relocated to relief camps.
More than 50 relief camps have been established across different regions of the state, primarily in the Gwalior-Chambal and Sagar divisions.
To bolster the response efforts, the state government has allocated Rs 3,600 crore from the relief fund. As of August 3, Rs 28.49 crore has already been distributed through local authorities, according to Chief Minister Yadav.
