Gwalior, Aug 20 (NationPress) Union Minister of Communication Jyotiraditya Scindia is set to embark on a comprehensive four-day tour of flood-stricken regions within his Lok Sabha constituency of Guna, starting Thursday, as per an official announcement made on Wednesday.

Accompanied by his team, the Minister will be visiting numerous villages across Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, and Guna districts—regions that fall under the Guna Lok Sabha constituency—where he will engage directly with the local populace.

His objective is to discuss and evaluate the damages incurred due to the recent floods that struck in the first week of this month.

"I have always regarded the residents of Guna as my family and strive to support them during challenging times. Over the next four days, I aim to connect with those affected by the floods. This visit is not merely an inspection; it’s an opportunity to listen to their concerns," stated Scindia.

This month, relentless heavy rainfall led to flooding in various parts of the Gwalior-Chambal region, particularly impacting Guna, Shivpuri, and Ashoknagar. A coordinated rescue operation was launched, involving both the Armed Forces and the NDRF and SDRF.

More than 400 individuals were airlifted during this operation.

Tragically, over 30 lives were lost as a result of the flooding, including 22 in Shivpuri and 7 in Guna.

Scindia, who was elected as a Lok Sabha MP from Guna following the tragic death of his father, Madhavrao Scindia, in a plane crash in 2001, has maintained a strong bond with his constituents. He faced a significant political challenge when he lost the Lok Sabha election in 2019. In March 2020, he made the pivotal decision to leave Congress and join the BJP.

In 2024, Scindia contested his first Lok Sabha election under the BJP banner, reclaiming his family’s seat in Guna with a remarkable margin. As a result, political analysts believe he aims to continue fostering a strong and consistent relationship with the people of Guna.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the establishment of over 50 relief shelters to provide refuge for more than 3,000 individuals.

During this crisis, Scindia not only sought prompt assistance from both the Centre and State governments but also closely monitored developments on the ground.

On August 5, he conducted an aerial survey alongside Chief Minister Mohan Yadav.
