New Delhi, Aug 13 (NationPress) The Indian Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA) has officially launched the ‘Semiconductor Leadership Forum’, a groundbreaking initiative designed to guide India’s long-term semiconductor strategy in areas such as manufacturing, capital goods, talent development, and innovation.
This initiative, coinciding with the Independence Day celebrations, represents the nation’s renewed commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat, transitioning India from being a mere consumer of electronics to a dominant global manufacturing hub in high-tech sectors like semiconductors.
The forum reflects the ideals of economic independence and technological self-reliance, which are essential for ensuring India’s future viability in a competitive and geopolitically complex world.
The government has set a strong groundwork through the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), implementing policy measures aimed at accelerating semiconductor manufacturing.
India has seen notable advancements with multiple Fab and OSAT proposals being approved and rapidly progressing.
Building on these efforts, the Leadership Forum will concentrate on aligning national objectives with industry capabilities and emerging global prospects, solidifying India’s status as a reliable and crucial participant in the global semiconductor supply chain.
ISM CEO Amitesh Kumar Sinha stated, “India’s aspiration to become a global semiconductor hub is being actualized through a blend of targeted policy, strategic investments, and robust industry engagement.”
He also mentioned that the ISM has established a firm foundation with several manufacturing and design proposals advancing swiftly.
Launching the ICEA Semiconductor Leadership Forum just before Independence Day is both symbolic and significant. According to ICEA Chairman Pankaj Mohindroo, independence was historically about political sovereignty, but today, it must also encompass technological and economic sovereignty.
