Jaipur, March 3 (NationPress) The Jaipur Police apprehended 'IIT Baba' also known as Abhay Singh, who gained popularity on social media during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, under the NDPS Act for possession of marijuana, as stated by police.

The officers from Shiprapath police station took IIT Baba into custody at a hotel but subsequently released him on a bail bond.

Authorities seized ganja from his possession, prompting action under the NDPS Act, officials reported.

They mentioned, "The police received a tip-off from the control room regarding a young man, Abhay Singh, allegedly attempting suicide at Riddhi Siddhi Park Classic Hotel. Upon arrival, officers discovered IIT Baba, who confessed to being under the influence of ganja."

However, Aditya Kakare, an IPS Trainee from Mansarovar police station, informed IANS that the suicide reports are still unverified and nothing concrete can be stated at this moment.

Kakare confirmed that ganja was found in his possession; however, due to the small quantity, he was released shortly after.

He also noted that the police acted on a tip-off from a doctor who reported IIT Baba's presence at the hotel.

During a search, police recovered two grams of ganja from IIT Baba.

The IIT Baba was taken to the police station and later set free on bail since the amount of ganja was minimal.

Interestingly, as he exited the hotel, IIT Baba requested the police to wish him a happy birthday, seemingly unaware of why they had arrived at his room.

The IIT Baba refuted the allegations against him, asserting that if such actions resulted in arrests, many others would also face legal repercussions.

Recently, the 'IIT Baba' made headlines after claiming he was assaulted during a news debate on a private TV channel in Noida.
