Patna, June 14 (NationPress) In a significant operation against unlawful activities, the Nalanda Police in Bihar dismantled a mini-arms manufacturing facility situated in a residential neighborhood of Chiksaura on Friday night.
The suspect, named Shankar Vishwakarma, who resides in Chiksaura Bazaar, was apprehended during this operation.
Authorities reported that Shankar was reportedly producing illegal weaponry from his residence, which raises alarming questions regarding an organized arms trafficking network in the area.
During a press briefing on Saturday, DSP Ranjan Kumar stated, “Acting on confidential information, a specialized team led by Hilsa Circle Inspector Chandrabhanu and Chiksaura SHO Ravindra Kumar executed the raid. A substantial amount of arms, raw materials, and manufacturing tools were seized from the site.”
The district police confiscated four semi-finished bodies of country-made pistols, four semi-manufactured barrels, two country-made pistols, one cartridge, and a misfired shell.
Moreover, equipment such as two drill machines, one grinder, 11 files, three triggers, three saws, a wrench, and a hand grip were also taken into custody.
The operation team comprised officers Subodh Rana, Vijay Kumar, Dilip Kumar, Rajkumar, and Manoj Kumar, all of whom were instrumental in carrying out the raid.
The detained individual is presently undergoing interrogation. Initial findings indicate that Shankar has been involved in illicit manufacturing for several months, with the products possibly utilized in local criminal endeavors.
“We are working diligently to uncover any additional individuals connected to these illegal operations. The supply routes and final destinations of these items are under scrutiny. An FIR has been lodged under pertinent sections of the Arms Act at the Chiksaura police station against the suspect,” added DSP Kumar.
In the wake of this raid, law enforcement has escalated monitoring at other suspected sites and has begun a series of operations to locate accomplices.
The revelation of this illicit operation in a heavily populated locality has alarmed residents and prompted inquiries into underground criminal syndicates functioning covertly in rural Bihar.
