NIA and Bihar ATS Conduct Raids Across Nalanda Targeting Arms Trafficking
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Patna, April 6 (NationPress) A coordinated action by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the Bihar Police's Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) is currently taking place at numerous sites in Nalanda, focusing on a potential arms trafficking network. The raids commenced at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Monday and are being executed at nearly 10 different sites, including a gun shop and a jewelry store located in the Laheri area under the jurisdiction of the Laheri Police Station.
The operation has sparked considerable interest among local residents owing to its extensive scale and intensity. Sources indicate that this action is aimed at dismantling an organized arms trafficking syndicate.
Simultaneous actions are being undertaken at various locations throughout the district, including the 'PK Gun House'. Investigators are carefully cross-referencing weapon serial numbers and reviewing stock inventories to uncover any discrepancies.
The operation spans multiple jurisdictions, including Mirzapur village under the Chiksaura Police Station and Rammurti Nagar under the Hilsa Police Station.
Reports suggest that around 100 personnel are involved in this operation. Notably, in the interest of operational security, local police stations were not informed in advance about the raids.
Significantly, the NIA had previously conducted similar operations in Nalanda district on December 4. During that earlier initiative, searches were performed in the Baradari area and locations under the Bhagwanbigha Police Station, where individuals such as Md. Parvez and Rajendra Yadav were interrogated in relation to the case.
Before the current operation, the NIA executed another significant crackdown in June 2025 in Nalanda district, recovering a staggering 717 cartridges from the rented residence of Abhijit Kumar in Asha Nagar, situated under the Sohsarai Police Station area. In a different recovery, 117 cartridges were confiscated from the residence of Robin Yadav under the Bhagwanbigha Police Station jurisdiction.
During that time, the NIA also apprehended Abhijit Kumar's father, underscoring the magnitude and seriousness of the illicit arms network operating in the region.
