Chennai, Dec 30 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has indicated that light to moderate rainfall is expected in isolated areas of the Western Ghats and parts of southern Tamil Nadu this Tuesday due to the impact of several prevailing atmospheric systems.
As per the latest weather bulletin, an atmospheric circulation is currently active over the southeast Arabian Sea near the Kerala coast. Additionally, another similar system is situated over the southeast Bay of Bengal, with a third circulation forming over the coastal region of Andhra Pradesh and surrounding areas.
The combined influence of these systems is anticipated to lead to intermittent rainfall in select regions of southern India.
Consequently, districts along the Western Ghats and certain areas of southern Tamil Nadu may witness light to moderate showers in one or two locations throughout the day.
Weather conditions are expected to be predominantly dry across the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, though isolated areas might experience mist or light fog in the early morning or late-night hours.
The IMD has also noted that there will be no significant change in the minimum temperatures across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal, although in some places, minimum temperatures could drop by 2 to 3 degrees Celsius below normal.
Cold conditions are likely to persist during the night and early morning, particularly in inland areas.
In the Nilgiris district and the hill ranges of Kodaikanal in Dindigul district, the department has predicted the possibility of light frost or dew forming during late-night or early-morning hours. Such occurrences are typical during this time due to clear skies and cooler temperatures in elevated regions.
For Chennai, the weather is expected to remain partly cloudy throughout the day. The city may experience light mist or fog during early morning or late-night hours. Maximum temperatures are likely to be around 29 to 30 degrees Celsius, while minimum temperatures are expected to range between 21 and 22 degrees Celsius.
The Meteorological Department has cautioned residents, especially those in hilly and low-lying areas, to be vigilant regarding changing weather conditions, particularly during early morning hours. Farmers and commuters are also advised to stay informed through local weather updates, as fluctuations in temperature and visibility could impact their daily activities.
