New Delhi, Feb 11 (NationPress) Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has emphasized that the INDIA bloc remains strong and has a promising future, although internal discussions are essential.
In an interview with IANS, Sibal dismissed any suggestions that the alliance might disband.
"It has a very bright future. There is no such issue. This was a national alliance, as Sharad Pawar Ji mentioned. During national elections, the alliance is solid. However, at the state level, there is no national alliance per se," he elaborated.
Sibal also addressed Congress leader Tariq Anwar’s recent comments questioning his party’s leadership and advocating for significant reforms.
Recognizing the validity of Anwar’s concerns, Sibal noted that such discussions should have occurred earlier.
"I believe there is some truth in what Tariq Anwar Sahab has articulated. However, this inquiry should have been raised when Kejriwal Ji was nominating candidates, whether in Haryana, Goa, Gujarat, or Karnataka. Still, this topic needs to be deliberated," he stated.
When asked about West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s choice to run in the upcoming elections independently, Sibal opted not to comment directly.
"I have no remarks on that. They will decide among themselves. These are seasoned and responsible leaders, and they will convene to figure out the way forward," he commented.
His remarks come at a time when the INDIA bloc is encountering challenges, with Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress, a member of the INDIA bloc, pursuing its own agenda in Bengal, and Congress leaders critiquing internal strategies.
Previously, the Trinamool Congress chief on Monday attributed the failure of the Opposition in Delhi and Haryana Assembly elections to the Aam Aadmi Party and the Congress, dismissing any potential alliance with the grand old party for the 2026 West Bengal elections.
