Indian Students Safely Relocated from Tehran to Qom Amid Security Concerns
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Srinagar, March 3 (NationPress) - The J&K Students Association (JKSA) announced on Tuesday that all Indian students have been successfully moved from the heavily impacted Tehran to a safer city, Qom, in Iran.
According to Nasir Kheuhami, the national convenor of JKSA, "The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association (JKSA) has confirmed that Indian students living in Tehran are now relocated to Qom as a protective measure due to the ongoing escalation and persistent airstrikes in Iran. Tehran has been identified as one of the most affected cities, prompting the Indian Embassy in Tehran to implement a systematic relocation procedure in light of the worsening security conditions."
The students were transported via buses organized by the Embassy and are currently traveling to Qom under the vigilant oversight of Indian authorities.
"The Association has maintained direct communication with the students and can affirm that all Indian students in Tehran, including those from Jammu & Kashmir, are safe and accounted for. While parental anxiety remains significant due to the unstable environment, the prompt relocation has brought a sense of reassurance and comfort to families back home," he continued.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Indian Embassy in Tehran are diligently overseeing the situation and are actively coordinating essential measures to protect Indian nationals.
"Further actions, including a potential evacuation, are anticipated in the upcoming days, dependent on the reopening of airspace and the evolving security landscape," he added.
The JKSA has expressed deep gratitude towards the Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Embassy in Tehran for their swift response, proactive involvement, and consistent communication during this critical phase.
"The Association acknowledges the extensive efforts being made at various levels to ensure the safe relocation of students and to keep contingency plans in place. We remain in constant contact with students, their parents, and the Ministry of External Affairs, regularly updating authorities about the situation and concerns faced by the students. The Association recognizes that the Indian Embassy in Tehran is actively assisting stranded students, ensuring continuous communication and support throughout this challenging time," Kheuhami stated.
He urged parents to remain composed, reassuring them that coordinated efforts are in progress to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
"It is important to note that those who have been relocated are safe, under supervision, and receiving ongoing support. Further measures will be executed in a structured and timely manner in accordance with the evolving circumstances," Kheuhami concluded.
