Srinagar, Feb 28 (NationPress) With reports surfacing about Israeli bombings in Iran on Saturday, the Kashmiri community is increasingly worried about the security of local students and other individuals still stuck in Iran.

Former Chief Minister Dr. Farooq Abdullah and current Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had previously urged Kashmiri students in Iran to heed the Indian foreign ministry's advisory and evacuate while air travel was still possible.

Although many Kashmiri students managed to leave during the operational flights, reports indicate that a significant number remain stranded in Iran. The situation also affects numerous Indian doctors and other professionals working in Iran.

Dr. Mohammad Momin Khan, the national representative and Pradesh president of the All India Medical Students Association (AIMSA), has called for enhanced collaboration with Iranian officials, university administrations, and the Indian embassy in Tehran.

He emphasized the need for clear advisories, the establishment of dedicated emergency helplines, and the preparation of a thorough contingency and evacuation plan should the situation worsen.

AIMSA reiterated that the safety of Indian students and nationals must be the top priority for the Government of India. In their formal request, they urged External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar to take swift and proactive measures to ensure the safety of all Indian citizens in the region.

The association also highlighted the importance of continuous monitoring of the situation and timely communication to alleviate panic and provide clarity to students and their families.

Meanwhile, across the Valley, regardless of sectarian affiliations, Muslims have united in condemning the Israeli strikes on Iran and are calling for an immediate halt to hostilities. The Kashmir Valley and the Kargil region of Ladakh have a large Shia Muslim population, which shares religious and sectarian ties with Iran.

Local authorities are closely observing the unfolding events to ensure that residents express their sentiments on this sensitive issue in a peaceful manner, while also preventing any anti-social elements from exploiting the situation.
