New Delhi, Aug 11 (NationPress) India is set to transition from local production to global manufacturing, and Jabalpur will be pivotal in this shift, stated Union Communication Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Monday.
“The collaboration between the government and industry is essential. Together, we can transform the dreams of our youth into tangible outcomes,” the minister remarked as Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) entered into strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading global tech firms.
To develop a workforce equipped with industry-ready skills, BSNL partnered with four renowned technology giants: Ericsson India, Qualcomm Technologies Inc., Cisco Systems, and Nokia Solutions and Networks India.
Scindia characterized this initiative as a groundbreaking move to cultivate a skilled and future-oriented telecom workforce through collaboration with top global technology entities.
“With the support of industry leaders like Ericsson, Nokia, Cisco, and Qualcomm, alongside BSNL, this program aims to train over 2,000 students each year, with initial investments surpassing Rs 1 crore,” the minister noted.
Designed to expedite India’s digital evolution and enhance the skilling framework, these partnerships will implement advanced training programs in 5G, AI/ML, networking, and digital technologies at BSNL’s premier training institution, Bharat Ratna Bhim Rao Ambedkar Institute of Telecom Training (BRBRAITT) located in Jabalpur.
The courses, varying from short two-week modules to comprehensive 84-hour programs, aim to establish Jabalpur as a center for innovative technology education,” the minister added.
This initiative contributes to a broader strategy by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, to create a Telecom Innovation, Research and Training Centre (TIRTC) at BRBRAITT.
Envisioned as a national hub led by industry, TIRTC will concentrate on nurturing telecom-specific R&D expertise and a future-ready workforce, aligning with the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of Skill India and Atmanirbhar Bharat.
