Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Indore, April 6 (NationPress) - A devastating accident in Madhya Pradesh's Indore resulted in the loss of at least four lives and left over half a dozen individuals critically injured when their vehicle collided with the rear of a truck, as reported by police on Monday.
The incident took place on the Indore-Nemawar Road during the early hours, between 1:30 a.m. and 2:00 a.m.
The victims were on their way back to Indore after attending a wedding in the nearby Dewas district when their multi-utility vehicle (MUV) crashed into a truck, leading to the instant death of three occupants, according to police.
Initial investigations indicate that the accident was caused by the overspeeding of the MUV, which collided with the rear of a truck carrying fodder.
The force of the impact killed three individuals immediately, while one critically injured person succumbed to their injuries during hospital treatment, police stated.
Authorities noted that overspeeding and sudden braking were the primary factors contributing to this tragic event. The truck driver reportedly attempted to overtake another vehicle, but applied the brakes upon seeing an oncoming vehicle.
The high-speed MUV subsequently crashed into the back of the truck.
The driver of the trailing vehicle, a Qualis with registration number MP35-D-0363, failed to brake in time and smashed into the rear of the Eicher truck (registration number MP41-GA-0949), resulting in extensive damage to the car.
The deceased have been identified as Irfan (24), Aris (20), Farhan (19), and Arfad (23), according to police.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Rupesh Dwivedi mentioned that a police team promptly arrived at the scene, and the injured were taken to MY hospital for medical care. The truck driver has been detained for questioning.
Family members of the deceased staged a protest, blocking a road near Khudel police station, but police managed to restore order.
