The L-G spoke at the closing ceremony of the initial phase of celebrations commemorating the 150th anniversary of the national song, ‘Vande Mataram’, held at the Maulana Azad Stadium in the city.
“The progress in Jammu & Kashmir has never been as promising as it has been since 2019,” stated the L-G.
He highlighted that the economy of Jammu and Kashmir has expanded significantly since 2021, and the rapid infrastructure advancements since 2019 are without precedent in the region's history.
“Our commitment to industrialization is yielding substantial growth. We have made courageous choices, steering Jammu & Kashmir towards a brighter future and ensuring enhanced prosperity for our populace,” the L-G remarked.
The event drew an enormous crowd, with over 20,000 students and citizens participating in a mass rendition of 'Vande Mataram'.
“I am thrilled to announce that Jammu & Kashmir has achieved the top national rank for overall participation in the week-long celebrations of the 150th year of the national song. Today, over 20,000 students and citizens joined together to express a strong sense of national pride,” the L-G added.
He paid tribute to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, recognizing his pivotal role in the freedom struggle and his inspiration to society.
The L-G emphasized that every segment of society should advocate for the principles and values of Bankim Chandra, which were instrumental in the freedom movement, and harness that spirit to propel Jammu & Kashmir into the future.
He urged all citizens to commit themselves to nation-building, letting go of the remnants of colonial history, and embracing a culture of brotherhood and equality.
“The overwhelming involvement of citizens in initiatives like 'Har Ghar Tiranga' and 'Vande Mataram' in Jammu & Kashmir signifies that the UT is moving past its historical challenges toward a brighter future; however, this transition is distressing for some,” he noted.
