New Delhi, Jan 18 (NationPress) To strengthen collaboration in the area of maritime surveillance, the indigenous guided missile destroyer INS Mumbai is taking part in the fourth iteration of the multinational exercise La Perouse, as announced by the Defence Ministry on Saturday.
This round of the exercise will feature personnel as well as surface and sub-surface assets from a variety of global maritime partners, including the Royal Australian Navy, French Navy, Royal Navy, United States Navy, Indonesian Navy, Royal Malaysian Navy, Republic of Singapore Navy, and Royal Canadian Navy, according to a statement.
The Ministry revealed that the exercise aims to cultivate shared Maritime Situational Awareness by improving cooperation in maritime surveillance, maritime interdiction operations, and air operations, in addition to conducting progressive training and facilitating information sharing.
This exercise presents a platform for navies with shared interests to forge closer ties in planning, coordination, and information sharing, which enhances tactical interoperability.
Advanced multi-domain activities, including surface warfare, anti-air warfare, air defense, cross-deck landings, and tactical maneuvers, along with constabulary missions such as VBSS (Visit, Board, Search and Seizure) operations, are included in the event.
The naval exercise, taking place in the straits between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean: Malacca, Sunda, and Lombok, commenced on January 16 and will conclude on January 24.
