What Innovations Were Unveiled at the International Conference on Nanotechnology in Srinagar?

Srinagar, Sep 7 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, officially launched an international conference on nanotechnology in Srinagar, emphasizing that pioneering research in this domain will tackle future global challenges.

This extensive five-day conference, featuring participants from various national and international nanotechnology institutions, commenced at the University of Kashmir campus in Srinagar.

In a statement on X following his address, L-G Manoj Sinha remarked, “I addressed the International Conference on Nanotechnology for Better Living at the University of Kashmir. This five-day grand event unites prominent scientists and researchers to exhibit the latest breakthroughs in nanotechnology and its sustainable living applications. The evolution of nanoscience and nanotechnology is significantly transforming numerous sectors. Future research in this field will be critical in addressing pressing global issues in industries, healthcare, and environmental conservation.”

During the conference, speakers are expected to present research papers discussing nanotechnology's influence across various sectors including industry, agriculture, and animal husbandry.

The 9th International Conference on Nanotechnology for Better Living (NBL-2025) is being organized in partnership with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad and the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar.

Running from September 7 to 11, this event has gathered over 500 scientists, researchers, innovators, and students from around the world to showcase the latest advancements in nanoscience and its applications for sustainable living.

Taking place at the Department of Nanotechnology, University of Kashmir, the conference is dedicated to exploring nanotechnology's potential to address global challenges in healthcare, energy, agriculture, and various industries.

In his inaugural speech, L-G Sinha highlighted that nanotechnology is no longer limited to labs but is now a revolutionary force influencing every sector, including defense and healthcare.

He pointed out India's rise as a global leader, noting Operation Sindoor as an example of the country's growing influence in innovation and security.

The L-G underscored the significance of nanotechnology in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of integrating innovation within defense and other fields.

He called upon the University of Kashmir to spearhead the development of nanotechnology-driven solutions, such as soil sensors for early warning systems to predict natural disasters like landslides, which could significantly benefit India and the Himalayan region.

“Nanotechnology is revolutionizing industries and promoting sustainable solutions. Institutions like IITs and NITs will be pivotal in crafting innovative pathways for a brighter future,” he stated.

Moreover, the L-G emphasized the vital role of nanotechnology in combating climate change and achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs), encouraging young researchers to utilize this platform for collaborative innovation.
