New Delhi, Nov 7 (NationPress) The Delhi Police Crime Branch has successfully apprehended a notorious interstate gang leader, Kamrul alias Mamu, age 51, who was a prime suspect in several bank robbery cases across Karnataka and Maharashtra.
As reported by the Delhi Police, Kamrul, the ringleader of the notorious “Mamu Gang”, was caught by the Western Range-II unit of the Crime Branch in Mahavir Enclave, Delhi, where he had been masquerading as a fruit vendor.
Authorities indicate that Kamrul was wanted for three significant bank burglary incidents in Karnataka, and a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) had been issued against him in relation to FIR No. 07/2019 at Badami Police Station, located in Bagalkot district, Karnataka.
Acting on actionable intelligence received by Sub Inspector Ravi Bhushan, a team led by Inspector Gautam Malik, under the supervision of ACP Rajpal Dabas and DCP (Crime Branch) Harsh Indora, set a trap near 60 Futa Road in Uttam Nagar on November 5.
After a brief surveillance operation, the suspect was arrested without any resistance.
During questioning, Kamrul confessed to orchestrating an organized interstate criminal syndicate known infamously as the “Mamu Gang”, which has been tied to a series of notable bank heists in Maharashtra and Karnataka.
The gang is notorious for its careful planning and use of disguises.
Members often pose as fruit vendors during the daytime to surveil potential bank targets, carefully noting security protocols and vulnerabilities.
Once a target is identified, the gang strikes at night, employing specialized tools to disable alarms and CCTV systems before escaping to another city.
The Delhi Police revealed that Kamrul has a lengthy criminal history, with over ten cases filed against him in Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Karnataka for crimes ranging from robbery and theft to murder and violations of the Arms Act.
His arrest has helped solve several significant burglaries in Karnataka, including FIR Nos. 07/2019, 204/2021, and 189/2025, all filed at Badami Police Station.
The police described Kamrul as a “habitual and desperate offender” who has been operating across states for decades, using his guise as a fruit seller to orchestrate sophisticated bank burglaries.
