New Delhi, May 11 (NationPress) The Indian Army's White Knight Corps reported that a soldier was injured during an exchange of gunfire with an intruder at the Nagrota Military Station in Jammu, prompting a search operation to locate the suspect.
Upon observing suspicious activity near the military perimeter, the vigilant sentry at the Nagrota station issued a challenge, resulting in a brief gunfire exchange with the intruder. The sentry suffered a minor injury, and search efforts are currently in progress to find the intruder(s), as stated by the White Knight Corps on X late Saturday night.
This incident coincided with Pakistan's drone attacks and artillery shelling in various regions along the Line of Control and International Border, including Nagrota.
The escalation occurred just hours after a mutual agreement between India and Pakistan to cease hostilities.
Additionally, a complete blackout was implemented in several regions of Punjab, including Pathankot, Ludhiana, Moga, Ferozepur, and Jalandhar on Saturday evening.
On Saturday, India accused Pakistan of violating the agreement reached between the DGMOs of both nations regarding the cessation of firing and military actions, asserting that the Indian Army is responding to border intrusions.
During a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri emphasized that this constitutes a violation of the earlier understanding and that India takes these breaches very seriously.
India urged Pakistan to take necessary measures to rectify these violations and treat the situation with the necessary gravity and responsibility.
Misri stated that India’s armed forces are prepared to respond robustly to any further instances of violations along the International Border and the Line of Control.
“In recent hours, there have been repeated breaches of the understanding established earlier today between the Directors General of Military Operations of India and Pakistan. This is a serious violation, and our armed forces are responding adequately,” he remarked.
“We call upon Pakistan to address these violations seriously. Our armed forces are on high alert and have been instructed to respond decisively to any future breaches along the borders,” he added.
India had initiated Operation Sindoor on May 7 in response to a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives.
Following this, India targeted nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).
