According to officials, the terrorist was neutralized during an anti-Infiltration operation conducted in the Jhangar area of the Nowshera sector along the LoC in Rajouri.
"Based on reliable intelligence from various agencies, the movement of two terrorists was detected around 3 PM on March 10 in the vicinity of Jhangar, Nowshera along the Line of Control," stated the Nagrota-based White Knight Corps on X.
"In response to this intelligence, the troops of White Knight Corps engaged promptly and effectively, successfully preventing the infiltration. During the confrontation, one terrorist, reportedly sponsored by Pakistan, was eliminated, thus averting any breach of the LoC. Our forces have been reoriented to locate the second terrorist and to maintain continuous control over the area, supported by coordinated ground and aerial surveillance," they added.
"A strong operational stance and increased vigilance remain in place across the sector," they emphasized.
Reports indicated that another terrorist was seen during the infiltration attempt, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend him.
The army is stationed along the 740-km-long LoC in J&K, covering the districts of Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora in the Kashmir Valley, as well as Poonch, Rajouri, and parts of Jammu district in the Jammu division.
Moreover, J&K has a 240-km-long international border that traverses Samba, Jammu, and Kathua districts, which is secured by the Border Security Force (BSF).
Both the Army and the BSF are tasked with preventing infiltration, exfiltration, drug trafficking, and drone operations originating from the Pakistan side of the border.
The J&K Police, alongside security forces, conduct proactive operations against terrorists, their overground workers (OGWs), and supporters.
Additionally, drug traffickers, peddlers, and individuals involved in hawala money schemes and other illegal financial activities are also under the scrutiny of security forces.
It is believed that the funds generated from these illicit operations are ultimately utilized to support terrorism in J&K.
