Army Thwarts Infiltration Attempt on LoC, Neutralizes Terrorist in Uri
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jammu, March 15 (NationPress) Vigilant Army personnel successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt on Sunday along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, resulting in the death of one terrorist.
The Chinar Corps, based in Srinagar, reported via social media, “Following specific intelligence shared by #JKP regarding a planned infiltration, a coordinated operation was initiated during the night of March 14-15, 2026, in the general area of Buchhar, Uri sector.”
“Our alert troops detected suspicious movements of a terrorist in a dense area. The ambush was repositioned, and upon being challenged, the terrorist opened fire indiscriminately. In the ensuing confrontation, a Pakistani terrorist was neutralized,” the Army elaborated.
During this operation, troops recovered various warlike materials, including an AK-47 rifle, pistols, and a significant cache of ammunition.
The Army confirmed that the anti-infiltration operations are ongoing.
Further updates are anticipated.
Previously, on March 10, another terrorist was killed while attempting to cross the LoC in the Nowshera sector within Rajouri district.
The Army had indicated that the movements of two terrorists were detected in the Jhangar area of Nowshera near the LoC. Swift and calculated actions by the troops led to an engagement with the infiltrators, resulting in the elimination of one Pakistan-sponsored terrorist, thereby preventing a possible breach of the LoC.
With a deployment along the 740 km-long LoC in Jammu and Kashmir, the Army is stationed in Baramulla, Bandipora, and Kupwara districts of the Valley, as well as in Poonch, Rajouri, and partially in Jammu district of the Jammu division.
Additionally, Jammu and Kashmir has a 240 km-long international border located in the districts of Samba, Kathua, and Jammu, where the Border Security Force (BSF) is also deployed.
Both the Army and the BSF play crucial roles in preventing infiltration, exfiltration, drug trafficking, and drone operations that originate from the Pakistani side.
Drones, often utilized by terrorist factions in collaboration with Pakistan's ISI, are employed to drop arms, ammunition, cash, and drugs across the Indian border.
These materials are collected by overground workers (OGWs) associated with the terrorists and subsequently supplied to them to bolster terrorism in the union territory.
To combat the drone threat, the Army and BSF have implemented advanced anti-drone technology along the border, while ongoing human surveillance and intelligence efforts monitor border activities continuously. Drones are more frequently deployed by adversaries along the international border than the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir.
