Investigation Launched into Students Fainting Incident at Jaipur Coaching Centre

Jaipur, Dec 16 (NationPress) The Municipal Corporation Committee is set to investigate the incident where students fainted at Utkarsh Coaching in Jaipur. Officials announced on Monday that a team will be dispatched to the location shortly.

On Sunday evening, several students lost consciousness during classes on the second floor of Utkarsh Coaching in Mahesh Nagar, Jaipur, due to a foul smell coming from the sewerage line. The management of the coaching institute promptly called for a 108 ambulance. Unconscious students were carried out by their classmates and transported to a nearby private hospital for medical attention.

ACP Sodalala Yogesh Chaudhary reported that five female students, whose health worsened during the incident, were admitted to SMS Hospital but were discharged later that night. However, two additional students remain hospitalized at CK Birla Hospital.

Late on Sunday night, Nirmal Chaudhary and his supporters arrived at the coaching institute, which led to heightened tensions and a clash between student leaders and police officers. Several students were taken into custody. Following the confrontation, Chaudhary, along with 20 other students and supporters, held a protest in front of the coaching center that continued throughout the night.

On Monday morning at the protest site in Mahesh Nagar, student leaders called for the immediate closure of Utkarsh Coaching and a thorough investigation into whether coaching institutes statewide adhere to regulations.

Student leader Vikas Vidhuri expressed, "We have been protesting since last night. Coaching institutes are operating in violation of JDA-Municipal Corporation rules. Utkarsh Coaching should be sealed, and all institutes must be inspected to ensure compliance with standards. Action must be taken against those found guilty."

Nirmal Chaudhary, the outgoing president of Rajasthan University’s student union, added, "Upon hearing about the students’ critical condition, I arrived within ten minutes. I witnessed the police acting as a shield for the coaching mafia. Students were taken to different hospitals, and we were not informed of their whereabouts. Hence, we protested throughout the night, demanding strict action against the coaching center. It must be sealed immediately," he stated.

Earlier, a doctor from a private hospital confirmed that seven students were admitted with symptoms of suffocation and respiratory distress. "The affected students reported coughing and breathlessness but are now stable," the doctor noted. Authorities have ruled out food poisoning as the cause, but the exact source of the gas leak remains undetermined.
