Narmada, April 15 (NationPress) External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar visited the Narmada district in Gujarat on Tuesday as part of his two-day tour of the state. During this visit, he inaugurated several projects and laid the foundation stone for various crucial development initiatives aimed at promoting growth in the area.
As a Rajya Sabha MP representing Gujarat and the Central government’s designated representative for the aspirational district, Dr. Jaishankar's focus was on enhancing infrastructure, health, education, and local services.
During his stay, he emphasized the importance of grassroots development and commended ongoing initiatives to uplift the region through targeted projects.

One of the key moments of his tour was the inauguration of a newly upgraded gymnastics hall at the Chhotubhai Purani Sports Campus in Rajpipla.
This facility, equipped with modern amenities and equipment, aims to provide budding athletes with a competitive advantage.
“Thrilled to inaugurate the upgraded Gymnastics hall at the Chhotubhai Purani Sports Campus, Rajpipla,” Dr. Jaishankar shared on social media.

In Lachras, he also inaugurated a new smart Anganwadi centre and a smart classroom, showcasing the government’s dedication to enhancing early childhood education and digital learning in rural regions. “Good to be back in Lachras. Glad to inaugurate the smart Anganwadi and smart classroom there,” he noted.
Dr. Jaishankar also made a stop at the Post Office Passport Seva Kendra in Rajpipla, recognizing the effective services being provided to residents at the grassroots level.
“I commend their efforts in offering smooth and efficient passport services at the grassroots level,” he remarked.
A significant point of focus was the tourism infrastructure in Ekta Nagar, the area surrounding the renowned Statue of Unity.
“I am encouraged by the consistent development of tourism facilities in Ekta Nagar,” he stated. “Hotels, smart bus stops, shops, food courts, gardens, and recreation spaces are rapidly expanding. It’s great to see such progress enhancing tourism,” Dr. Jaishankar posted on his X handle after visiting the site on Monday.
