Srinagar, Feb 24 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, extended his thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) sanctioned the expansion of the Civil Enclave at Srinagar Airport, with an estimated investment of Rs 1,677 crore.
Sinha also expressed optimism that the new terminal for Jammu Airport would be finalized by the end of this year.
He remarked on the platform X, “Jammu and Kashmir Skies Soar: the beginning of a bold aviation era. I am grateful to Hon'ble PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji for the significant expansion of the Civil Enclave at Srinagar International Airport.”
“I vividly recall our announcement made at Srinagar on September 25, 2021, in the presence of the then Hon'ble Minister for @MoCA_GoI,” he noted.
“The CCEA's approval of Rs 1,677 crore for the new 71,500 sqm Civil Enclave represents a pivotal advancement in connectivity for the Valley. It is set to accommodate 2,900 passengers during peak hours, with a total capacity of 10 million passengers annually,” the LG stated on X.
“Enhanced connectivity will attract more tourists, increase investments, and generate more jobs. The new Civil Enclave at Srinagar will elevate the Valley's economic prospects, transforming it from a stunning destination into a flourishing hub,” he added.
“Under the guidance of Hon'ble PM Sh. Narendra Modi Ji, the new terminal at Jammu Airport is anticipated to be operational by year-end. Once completed, the state-of-the-art infrastructure in this esteemed spiritual city will significantly improve connectivity and drive remarkable economic growth,” asserted LG Manoj Sinha.
Improved connectivity is a crucial element in realizing the vision of complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir with the rest of the nation.
After a wait of nearly a century, the long-cherished goal of establishing a rail link between Jammu and the Valley was achieved when the Prime Minister inaugurated the rail connection to the region on June 6, 2025.
Direct train services between Srinagar and Jammu, as well as between Srinagar and the rest of the country, are expected to commence within the upcoming months.
