Jammu, July 28 (NationPress) The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, presented a letter of job assurance to the daughter of Raj Kumar Thapa, the additional district development commissioner (ADDC), who tragically lost his life due to unprovoked shelling by Pakistan in Rajouri town.
An official announcement revealed that L-G Manoj Sinha met with Mareesa Thapa, the daughter of the martyred official, along with his wife, Meenakshi Kundan Thapa.
“The Lieutenant Governor assured Mareesa that upon completing her studies, she would be appointed as an Assistant Law Officer. He also conveyed his heartfelt solidarity with Dr. Raj Kumar Thapa's family and reiterated the administration's commitment to extend all possible support,” the statement noted.
On this occasion, Ramesh Kumar, the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu, was also present at the Raj Bhawan,” the statement continued.
In response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian armed forces executed precise strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure deep within Pakistan, prompting heavy mortar shelling from Pakistan along the Line of Control (LoC) affecting regions including Poonch, Rajouri, Baramulla, Kupwara, and Bandipora.
In total, eighteen civilians, including ADDC Raj Kumar Thapa, lost their lives due to the Pakistani shelling on civilian facilities. Fourteen of these fatalities occurred in Poonch district. Numerous homes, shops, a Gurudwara, a temple, and a church were devastated by the mortar attacks in Poonch town.
Following Pakistan's targeting of civilian and military sites, the Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor, which resulted in damage to 18 Pakistani defense installations.
It is important to note that the Indian Armed Forces initially targeted only terror infrastructure located in Muridke near Lahore, Bahawalpur, Kotli, and Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), ensuring no civilian or military facilities were struck.
The Indian military's response to the Pakistani military escalated only after Pakistan intensified tensions.
