Jammu/Srinagar, Jan 26 (NationPress) The principal event for the 77th Republic Day celebrations in J&K took place at the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu, where Lt Governor Manoj Sinha raised the National Flag and received the salute during the parade.

Attending the event were J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, high court judges, ministers, the chief secretary, and various senior civil and police officials, along with a significant number of civilians.
In the Valley, Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary hoisted the national flag and took the salute at the parade held at Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.
Choudhary honored the tourists who lost their lives to terrorists in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, asserting that Pakistan has consistently undermined “our peace and attempted to disrupt our tourism sector.” He noted that the nation delivered a strong response to Pakistan through Operation Sindoor.
He encouraged tourists to visit J&K in large numbers and paid tribute to the nation’s Constitution architect, Babasaheb B.R. Ambedkar, while selectively recognizing only Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, Maulana Mohammad Syed Masoodi, and Mirza Afzal Beg for their contributions to shaping J&K’s constitution.
He also honored the J&K Police and security forces for sacrificing their lives to protect the nation's freedom.
