Jharkhand Observes Seven Days of Mourning for Dr. Manmohan Singh

Ranchi, Dec 27 (NationPress) The government of Jharkhand has instituted a seven-day mourning period in tribute to former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away on Thursday night at the age of 92. Throughout this duration, all state activities will be suspended.
A notification released by the Cabinet Secretariat and Monitoring Department on Friday indicates that the national flag will be displayed at half-mast on all government buildings across Jharkhand. The mourning period will extend until January 1, 2025, and no official state functions will take place during this time.
This directive has been forwarded to all Divisional Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners.
Consequently, the 'Jharkhand Mukhyamantri Maiya Samman Yojana' program, which was set for December 28 in Khojatoli, Namkum, Ranchi, has also been postponed. Nevertheless, the distribution of Rs 2,500 to beneficiary women under this scheme has commenced, with funds being transferred to accounts in various districts.
Numerous dignitaries, including Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar and Chief Minister Hemant Soren, have conveyed their deep sorrow following the passing of Dr. Manmohan Singh.
In his message of condolence, Governor Gangwar remarked: “The news of the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh is profoundly saddening. His legacy as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, Finance Minister, and Prime Minister will be cherished forever. In this time of grief, I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family.”
Chief Minister Soren added: “The nation has lost one of its greatest sons. The passing of former Prime Minister and globally recognized economist Dr. Manmohan Singh is an immeasurable loss. A trailblazer in developmental politics and governance, he dedicated his entire life to the service of the country. Although Dr. Manmohan Singh is no longer with us, his principles and vision will continue to guide future generations.”
