CBI Issues Notice to K. Kavitha Regarding Delhi Excise Policy Hearing
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, March 12 (NationPress) The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially issued a notice to K. Kavitha, a prominent leader of Telangana Jagruthi, regarding her involvement in the ongoing Delhi excise policy case, as the matter is set to be heard in the Delhi High Court.
CBI officials delivered the notice directly, informing Kavitha of the upcoming hearing on March 16 concerning the CBI’s petition.
Kavitha has been given the opportunity to present her arguments either on the scheduled date or on any alternate date if the case is deferred.
Just two days prior, the High Court had sent out notices to Kavitha, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, among 20 others who had been previously discharged in this case by the Rouse Avenue Court.
The CBI is contesting the discharge of these individuals in the High Court.
In a statement on platform X, Kavitha confirmed receiving the notice, stating, "This afternoon at approximately 12:30 PM, I was served with a notice from the CBI concerning a petition presented in the Hon’ble High Court on 16/03/26. I am currently consulting with my legal team and will respond through official channels as necessary."
"Confident that the truth will emerge, I am committed to fully cooperating with the legal process. Serving a notice while an appeal is pending in a higher court is standard legal protocol, and I urge all involved to refrain from misinterpreting this in a manner that could undermine the integrity of our legal system," Kavitha further remarked.
Earlier on February 27, the Rouse Avenue Court had ruled in favor of all defendants in this case.
In response to this verdict, Kavitha, who is the daughter of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) President and former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, expressed that the judiciary had effectively dismantled the web of falsehoods surrounding the case.
She emphasized that justice has been served and that the judgment reaffirmed their faith in the judicial system.
At the time of her detention by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the CBI in March 2024, Kavitha held the position of BRS MLC and spent over five months in custody before being granted bail.
Last year, following her suspension from the party for actions deemed against party interests, Kavitha resigned from the BRS and her role as MLC.
