Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Hyderabad, Feb 27 (NationPress) The judiciary has dismantled an entire web of deceit, stated Telangana Jagruthi president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Friday following a Delhi court's decision to exonerate her and others involved in the Delhi liquor policy case.
She expressed to the media that the truth has triumphed and that "the ruling reinforced their trust in the judiciary".
"We have consistently maintained that we were not involved in this case, which was driven by political motivations. This case was a part of a political vendetta against opposition parties," she remarked.
"I am grateful to the judiciary for restoring our faith. They have seen through the entire web of deceit and transparently upheld our beliefs," Kavitha, daughter of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, stated.
At the time of her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in March 2024, Kavitha was serving as a BRS MLC. She spent over five months in detention before being granted bail.
Last year, Kavitha resigned from the BRS and her position as MLC after being suspended from the party due to anti-party actions.
Currently leading Telangana Jagruthi and planning to establish a new political party, Kavitha mentioned she sought her mother’s blessings immediately after hearing the court's verdict. She refrained from commenting when asked if she would celebrate with her father KCR and brother KTR.
She expressed gratitude to her in-laws, parents, husband, and children for their unwavering support during her challenging time of over five months.
She questioned who would take responsibility for the time she lost with her family, noting that she faced harassment online and public targeting for three years.
In response to a question, she noted that KCR had frequently asserted that this case was a vendetta against BRS and him, which also impacted her.
Kavitha thanked the leaders and supporters of Telangana Jagruthi who traveled to Delhi at their own expense to show solidarity while she was incarcerated.
On Friday, the Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi acquitted former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Kavitha, and 20 others involved in the Delhi liquor policy case.
