Bhatinda, June 15 (NationPress) A city court has granted an extension of three more days in police custody for two suspects involved in the murder of Kanchan Kumari, widely recognized as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi.
Previously, the Bathinda Police had obtained a two-day custody for the two suspects -- Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh. Both individuals, who are affiliated with the Nihangs sect, a faction within Sikhism known for its distinctive blue garments and turbans, were presented in court as the initial police remand came to an end.
With the extension of their custody, law enforcement will conduct further interrogations, aiming to uncover details about their third accomplice and the alleged mastermind -- Amritpal Singh Mehron, who remains elusive.
Mehron is reportedly the main suspect in the murder of Kamal Kaur Bhabhi and has been evading authorities since the incident, with reports suggesting he is currently hiding in Dubai.
The case captured significant media attention after the remains of Kanchan Kumari, also known as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi, were discovered inside a vehicle in a parking area just three days prior. The suspects, Jaspreet Singh and Nimratjit Singh, were apprehended shortly after the body was located.
The social media influencer was reportedly targeted by three Nihangs for allegedly offending the sentiments of the Sikh community. According to police reports, the alleged mastermind Amritpal Singh Mehron orchestrated a scheme to ambush and isolate the influencer, ultimately leading to her death by strangulation inside the car, with assistance from his two accomplices who have since been captured by the Bathinda police.
In a controversial video that has gone viral, Mehron took responsibility for the act, accusing the influencer of tarnishing the Sikh tradition with her 'obscene and vulgar' content, and declaring that she was punished for her actions.
He also issued a stern warning to other content creators on social media, urging them to refrain from disrespecting their religious leaders, or they would face similar consequences as Kamal Kaur Bhabhi.
In the video, he stated, 'Our Gurus have bestowed upon us the names of 'Singh' and 'Kaur,' and we cannot permit women from other regions to assume the title of Kaur. The Khalsa tradition does not engage in violence against women, but if a woman targets our Takhts and mocks Sikh values, we will not hold back.'
