Bhopal, March 23 (NationPress) Congress leader Kamal Nath stated on Sunday that the BJP government has been utilizing significant amounts of public funds to host investor summits over the past few years, yet has failed to attract investment into the state.

Kamal Nath, who previously served as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, remarked during the Global Investment Summit (GIS-2023) in Indore that the state government allocated 77 lakh square meters of land for investors to establish industrial operations, but no progress has been made thus far.

He asserted, "The government squandered crores of rupees on GIS-2023, and now the state's Industry Department has acknowledged that no development has commenced on the 77 lakh square meters of land designated for industries. This reflects the reality of the investor summits organized by the BJP administration in MP," Nath stated.

The Congress leader also pointed out that the majority of investment proposals received during the Regional Investment Conclaves (RIC) in Ujjain in March 2024 were identical to those presented during GIS -2023 in Indore.

"The BJP government has made grand promises for many years, but this is the outcome of GIS - Indore in 2023. The results of the GIS conducted last month in Bhopal are still pending," he remarked.

It is noteworthy that the last GIS conducted in Bhopal on February 24 and 25 garnered investment proposals exceeding Rs 26.6 lakh crore, with the potential to create 17.3 lakh jobs.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav mentioned that GIS-2025 will serve as a significant milestone for the economic and industrial growth of Madhya Pradesh.

In addition to GIS-Bhopal, the Yadav-led BJP government also organized seven RICs in various cities over the past year, claiming to have acquired investment proposals worth approximately Rs 30.8 lakh crore.

Furthermore, the state government intends to conduct sector-specific summits to address key sectors of the economy, such as IT, textiles, tourism, and agriculture.
