Bengaluru, March 14 (NationPress) The Karnataka BJP has criticized the Tamil Nadu government's choice to substitute the rupee symbol with a Tamil character in the state budget logo, labeling the action as deeply condemnable.
In response to this decision, BJP State President and MLA, B.Y. Vijayendra remarked on Friday that the Tamil Nadu government’s move to overlook the ‘Rupee symbol’, a representation of India’s economic prowess, is unacceptable.
Vijayendra condemned the Tamil Nadu government's rejection of the rupee symbol, asserting that it reflects a separatist attitude that undermines national unity.
He contrasted this with the previous UPA and Congress-led administrations that neglected to safeguard the languages, cultures, and traditions of South Indian states. According to Vijayendra, the NDA government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown a profound commitment to the preservation and advancement of the Tamil language, Tamil Nadu’s cultural heritage, and the richness of South Indian traditions.
However, with the forthcoming Assembly elections on the horizon, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s DMK government is allegedly trying to create rifts among the populace of Tamil Nadu by using language and regional identity as divisive tools, he claimed.
Vijayendra expressed that such actions are detrimental to the nation's interests.
He stated that the citizens of Tamil Nadu will not embrace such divisive approaches. Frustrated by the stagnation in development under the DMK government, they are being misled through language and regional sentiments. Nevertheless, the people of Tamil Nadu will respond appropriately to such political maneuvers. The citizens across the nation will never accept divisive actions, irrespective of where they occur, he emphasized.
It is crucial to recognize that the Rupee symbol was introduced during former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s UPA government. Currently, the Congress remains silent instead of denouncing the anti-national position of its ally, the DMK. This silence indicates that Congress prioritizes political gain over national unity, Vijayendra criticized.
