Karnataka BJP slams govt over leopard deaths at MM Hills shrine
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly, R. Ashoka, on Monday accused the Congress-led state government of failing to protect devotees at the Male Mahadeshwara Hills (MM Hills) shrine, following a series of fatal leopard attacks in the region. At least two devotees have died in three leopard attacks that occurred within a span of a few days, according to Ashoka's statement.
What Ashoka Alleged
R. Ashoka charged the state government with administrative failure and gross negligence, questioning how a government that reportedly collects crores of rupees in temple revenues and charges hundreds of rupees per vehicle as entry fees could remain indifferent to pilgrim safety.
