Did Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Deliver on Promises?

Vijayanagara (Karnataka), May 20 (NationPress) Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced on Tuesday that the Congress-led state government has successfully delivered on 142 promises, which includes the five guarantees, within the initial two years of its tenure.

He pledged that the remaining commitments would be realized within the next three years.

During the "Sadhana Samavesha" convention organized by the Revenue Department to commemorate the two-year milestone of the Congress government, the Chief Minister distributed title deeds to over a lakh beneficiaries and unveiled a statue of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

Looking back at his previous term, Siddaramaiah highlighted that his administration fulfilled 158 of the 165 promises made during the last Assembly elections.

Furthermore, the Congress government has implemented 30 new initiatives that were not part of the original manifesto, as stated by the CM.

He questioned why the BJP has not been able to keep its promises, instead resorting to misleading the populace.

"Our state is a garden of peace for all communities, a state that treats everyone with respect. All religions should be treated equally under the Constitution, and we are dedicated to maintaining these principles," he emphasized.

The Chief Minister also criticized the Central government for the financial challenges faced by Karnataka.

"We contribute Rs 4.5 lakh crore in taxes annually but receive only 14 paise back for every rupee. This undermines our federal structure," he noted.

Siddaramaiah asserted that the BJP has never gained power in Karnataka through its own strength.

"They have now allied with the JD-S, but the BJP has never secured a majority independently. Except for Operation Lotus, the BJP has never been chosen by the people of Karnataka," he remarked.

"The former BJP government faced accusations of demanding a 40 percent commission. We challenged this and, upon taking office, established the Justice Nagamohan Das Committee to investigate. The committee's findings confirmed the presence of commission-based dealings," he stated.

"In 2014, gold was priced at Rs 10,000; it has surged to Rs 1 lakh. LPG prices have climbed from Rs 400 to Rs 850. The costs of diesel, petrol, cooking oil, pulses, and fertilizers have skyrocketed. Public discontent is directed at the Central government, not our state government. The people support us," he asserted.

He dismissed the BJP's "Janakrosh Yatra" (public outrage) campaign as insincere.

"The citizens of this state are our true masters. We have remained true to our promises to them. With your continued support, we are unafraid of the flood of misinformation propagated by the BJP," he concluded.

Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar mentioned that the 'Land Guarantee' scheme is the sixth of the Congress Guarantee schemes and is intended to repay the trust of the people who empowered us in the state.

"We are introducing the Land Guarantee scheme as the sixth guarantee to honor our commitment to the citizens of Karnataka. As per the AICC President's directives, the guarantee schemes will continue as long as the Congress government is in power," he stated during the event commemorating the two-year mark of the state government.

"This is not a celebration of our two years in office; it's a commitment to repaying our debts to the people of Karnataka and reaffirming our dedication to their service. You have granted us 136 MLAs under the leadership of Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi."

"As promised, we have delivered the five guarantees. We are now launching the sixth guarantee through the Bhu Guarantee scheme," he added.

"Our government is providing 'khatas' to individuals who have gone without them for the past 50 years. I commend Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda and his team for making this historic scheme a reality. I am announcing the seventh guarantee scheme to digitize all khatas in urban areas," he stated.

"Industries have pledged to invest Rs 10 lakh crore in our state during our tenure. We have initiated the Kalyana Patha scheme to enhance rural road infrastructure. All other departments are also rolling out new initiatives," he concluded.
