Kalaburagi, April 16 (NationPress) Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked that the caste census survey is a socio-economic initiative, emphasizing that the Karnataka government will guarantee that no community experiences injustice.

Addressing the media at the Kalaburagi airport, CM Siddaramaiah responded to concerns raised by Channagiri Congress MLA, Basavaraju V Shivaganga, who suggested that Lingayat MLAs should resign due to the caste census controversy. He announced that a dedicated Cabinet meeting has been scheduled for April 17 to deliberate on the social and economic survey.

“The MLAs have shared their perspectives, and a conclusive decision is expected tomorrow,” he stated.

Furthermore, CM Siddaramaiah reiterated that the survey is socio-economic in nature, assuring that no community would be subjected to injustice.

The caste census report delivered by the Backward Classes Commission to the Congress-led government in Karnataka estimates the Muslim demographic in the state at 18.08 percent, proposing 8 percent reservation for the community, according to sources.

In a significant turn of events, the Karnataka Vokkaliga Association has declared that they will join the Lingayat and other affected communities in opposing the caste census report.

On the topic of the charge sheet submitted in the National Herald case, Siddaramaiah accused the BJP of pursuing political agendas.

“The National Herald newspaper wasn’t established recently. Targeting Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi through asset seizures and charge sheet filings is purely a political vendetta,” he asserted.

Deputy CM Shivakumar also conveyed to the media that, “This is a significant injustice. The Gandhi family has not gained from this institution. It is the property of the Congress party, and they lead it. What is the wrongdoing? They are facing illegal actions.”

In light of a recent incident in Davangere where a woman was publicly assaulted over allegations of an illicit affair, CM Siddaramaiah warned, “Whoever committed this offense, regardless of their influence, will face stringent consequences if they have broken the law.”

CM Siddaramaiah additionally reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating job opportunities for the youth through organized job fairs.

“A divisional-level job fair is taking place in Kalaburagi today, with similar events scheduled in Mysuru and Hubballi-Dharwad. The Yuva Nidhi scheme has been launched to tackle unemployment issues. The government is actively working to provide employment,” CM Siddaramaiah concluded.
