Bengaluru, Feb 18 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, expressed on Tuesday that the Karnataka government is attracting attention for all the wrong reasons due to its inadequate development and ongoing power struggles.
While addressing the media at the BJP state office, he humorously noted that rather than showcasing developmental achievements, the current narrative revolves around public grievances regarding the government's shortcomings.
According to Narayanaswamy, Siddaramaiah, an experienced Chief Minister, now appears ineffective. The government has not delivered on its promises related to the guarantee scheme, rice distribution has been delayed, and the Rs 2,000 aid has not been disbursed for the last six months, leading citizens to feel deceived.
He further remarked, "There is an ongoing power struggle within the Congress concerning the Chief Minister’s position. This administration seems more invested in political propaganda than actual governance," he accused.
Narayanaswamy also highlighted the alarming rise in online betting frauds, stating, "Today, three individuals lost their lives due to betting scams. Online gambling is flourishing in Karnataka, yet the government appears too preoccupied to tackle this issue.”
“Many individuals are alleging that those in authority are complicit in this illicit practice,” he claimed.
Commenting on a tragic incident in Gurumitkal taluk of Yadgir district, where two girls from a nomadic group died under dubious conditions, Narayanaswamy mentioned that there are suspicions of foul play.
“I have contacted the SP regarding this issue. A thorough investigation is crucial. This administration is jeopardizing the lives and dignity of its people,” he insisted, calling for a proper inquiry.
On the topic of reports about land intended for a park in Kalaburagi being repurposed for Siddhartha Vihara Trust, he declared that such an action would be unlawful.
“If land is allocated for recreational use, it cannot be repurposed for commercial endeavors. I have seen concerning articles in newspapers regarding this, and I believe it should not be permitted,” he stated in response to a query.
Meanwhile, regarding the call for Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar's replacement as State President, Minister for PWD Satish Jarkiholi commented in Mangaluru on Tuesday, saying, “We are merely requesting. Ultimately, the high command will make the final decision. Leaders have their own opinions and should be free to express them. The final verdict rests with the high command, and we cannot dictate terms.”
Regarding complaints made to AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and National General Secretary K.C. Venugopal by the KPCC Working President against Minister for Cooperation K.N. Rajanna, he mentioned that clarifications could be obtained from Minister Rajanna at the state level, negating the need to escalate the matter to Delhi.
“Everyone operates under the Working President; I believe resolutions can be found at the state level, making a trip to Delhi unnecessary,” he stated.
“I cannot comment on Minister Rajanna’s remarks regarding Dy CM D.K. Shivakumar,” he added.
When questioned about Dy CM Shivakumar’s endorsement of CM Siddaramaiah’s leadership, Minister Satish affirmed that the statements resolve all speculations.
