Bengaluru, April 8 (NationPress) The Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) has revealed the results for the Second Pre-University Course (2nd PUC) or Class 12 Board Exams- 1 on Tuesday. Education Minister Madhu Bangarappa announced that the overall pass percentage is 73.45%, with 4.68 lakh students successfully passing the board exams out of 6.37 lakh who appeared.
L.R. Sanjana Bai, daughter of a lorry driver, achieved the highest score in the Arts stream with 597 out of 600 marks. She attended Indu College in Kottur town, Vijayanagara district.
In the Commerce stream, Deepashree S., a student from Canara PU College in Mangaluru district, secured the first rank with 599 out of 600 marks.
Amoolya Kamath, hailing from Expert PU College, also scored 599 out of 600 marks to lead the Science stream. In her media interaction, Amoolya stated, “Our classes continued until 7 p.m., and I diligently revised everything taught. Regular tests and revisions contributed significantly to my success. I owe my achievements to my supportive parents.”
She further advised, “I focused on daily studies as per what was taught in college, aiming to become an engineer. To fellow students preparing for board exams, I recommend putting forth your best effort, revisiting study material, and avoiding unnecessary stress.”
Deeksha R, from Vagdevi PU College in Tirthahalli, Shivamogga district, is a joint topper in the PU exams with 599 out of 600 in the Science stream. Her parents are educators.
During a press conference in Bengaluru, Minister Bangarappa stated, “Girls have outperformed boys in all three streams. Out of 2.92 lakh boys who appeared, 1.99 lakh passed. In a pool of 3.45 lakh girl students, 2.69 lakh succeeded, achieving a remarkable 77.88% pass rate among girls.”
He emphasized, “This is just the result of the first examination. Two more rounds will be conducted for students who did not pass. We have scheduled three exams for students. The second exam is set for April 24, and the third on June 9. No student will be declared as failed.”
“We are only announcing the results of those who have passed. As the examination process is still ongoing, students have the chance to attempt the second and third exams. Final results will be updated once the entire procedure is complete,” he noted.
Government colleges reported a 57% pass rate, aided colleges 62%, and unaided institutions achieved 82%. Colleges operated by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) attained 68%, he added.
Among the districts, Udupi (93.90%) and Mangaluru (93.57%) led, while the coastal Karnataka region topped the chart. Yadgir district in the Kalyana Karnataka region had the lowest pass rate at 48.45%.
Bengaluru South recorded an 85.36% pass rate, while Bengaluru North achieved 83.31%.
“Marksheets have been issued only to those who passed the examination. As the process continues, I assure students they have second and third opportunities. Until this is finalized, no one will be declared failed,” said Madhu Bangarappa.
“Only after the third attempt will students be officially marked as failed. Dates for the second and third exams have been announced to facilitate special classes for those needing assistance. This year, all categories of students will have their examination fees waived,” he declared.
“I urge students to take advantage of the second and third exam opportunities and ensure they succeed. What we have announced is strictly the outcome of the first exam,” he added.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah remarked on the results, “Congratulations to all students who passed the Second PUC examination. I hope your dedication and continuous practice lead you to greater successes.”
“For those who did not clear the exams, do not succumb to disappointment or anxiety, and avoid making hasty decisions. Life offers much more, and there will certainly be another chance to retake the exam and achieve better results. Stay calm and composed,” he advised.
