Bengaluru, March 24 (NationPress) The government of Karnataka has announced its readiness to enforce internal reservation in government employment for Scheduled Castes once the interim report from the Justice (retired) Nagamohan Das panel is finalized.

During a press briefing at the Chief Minister's Office following a meeting at CM Siddaramaiah’s residence concerning SC reservation in government roles, Home Minister G. Parameshwara emphasized the Congress government's dedication to implementing this quota.

The retired Justice Nagamohan Das Committee indicated that it would present its interim report on internal quotas within a week.

Afterward, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will deliberate on the issue and take prompt action, as stated by Home Minister Parameshwara.

"Our government is resolute in executing internal reservation for Scheduled Castes. We had previously included this in our party's election manifesto. Retired Justice Nagamohan Das has informed us during the meeting that empirical data will shed light on the situation," he remarked.

Social Welfare Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa, who was also in attendance, mentioned that a comprehensive meeting was convened under the CM's guidance with senior ministers to deliberate on internal reservation.

"The Nagamohan Das Committee has presented a report on the progress achieved regarding internal reservation. A proposal for its immediate implementation has been suggested," he added.

He continued, "An in-depth discussion was facilitated based on empirical data. Justice Nagamohan Das will provide the interim report within a week. A decision on the implementation of internal reservation will be made based on this report."

"All facets have been thoroughly examined and brought to our attention. Our government is entirely devoted to enforcing internal reservation. No community has specifically requested the percentage of reservation.

“Most departments have already submitted the required data. We will act in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines. No backlog positions, promotions, or new appointments will occur until internal reservation is enforced," he clarified.

When questioned about Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar’s purported comments regarding altering the Constitution concerning the Muslim quota, Parameshwara replied, “I am not familiar with the context of his remarks. Our party and government are committed to respecting the Constitution. In alignment with this commitment, we recently hosted the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Constitution’ convention in Belagavi. Our government stands firmly for upholding constitutional principles."

Minister for Food K.H. Muniyappa, Minister for Excise R.B. Thimmapur, and Minister for Kannada and Culture Shivaraj Tangadagi were also present at the meeting.
