Bengaluru, Oct 15 (NationPress) Karnataka's Home Minister G. Parameshwara, a prominent figure within the Congress party, expressed on Wednesday that should AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge choose to engage in state politics, he would receive a warm welcome.
During a press interaction in Bengaluru, Parameshwara addressed an inquiry by stating, “Any decision made by the high command, especially if Khargeji wishes to join Karnataka politics, will be honored. He holds a senior position in our party, and if he decides to come to Karnataka, he is indeed welcome.”
When asked about the potential for a change in the Chief Minister position, he remarked, “I am not qualified to provide an answer to that. It completely hinges on the high command's decision. Whether there will be a shift and who might be the next candidate is beyond my purview.”
These remarks have gained significance in light of the ongoing leadership disputes in the state.
On a related note, Congress MLA H.C. Balakrishna voiced his support for Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, stating that Shivakumar has diligently worked to elevate the Congress in the state. “I believe the high command will grant him an opportunity. I have faith in the high command's awareness of Shivakumar's contributions,” he asserted.
Another Congress MLA, Belur Gopal Krishna, commented, “Both Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister Shivakumar have played significant roles in the party. It is the high command's prerogative to make decisions, and we will adhere to their directives.”
Gopal Krishna further expressed, “I have requested a cabinet position and consider myself a strong candidate. As the cabinet reshuffle occurs, we have the right to voice our demands. If I am granted a post, I will rejoice; if not, I will remain loyal and not partake in anti-party activities.”
He also suggested, “Rather than merely a reshuffle, a new cabinet should be established, as a reshuffle would primarily benefit select leaders.”
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to visit the historic Hasanamba temple in Hassan on Wednesday, which holds political significance following Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar's visit, who is regarded as a potential candidate for the Chief Minister's role. Hasanamba is often referred to as the Vaishnodevi of South India.
