Karnataka's Liquor Sales Surge to Rs 308 Crore During New Year Celebrations

Bengaluru, Jan 1 (NationPress) The Karnataka State Beverages Corporation Limited (KSBCL) achieved remarkable liquor sales amounting to Rs 308 crore during the New Year festivities in the state, exceeding the planned target of Rs 250 crore, as reported by sources on Wednesday.
According to KSBCL, liquor sales reached Rs 308 crore by 2 p.m. on December 31. However, an official announcement detailing total sales has not yet been released.
On December 31, 2023, liquor valued at Rs 193 crore was sold.
In total, approximately 4.83 lakh boxes of Indian-made liquor (IML) were sold, generating a revenue of Rs 250.25 crore. Additionally, around 2.92 lakh boxes of beer were sold, contributing Rs 57.75 crore to the total. Overall, 7,76,042 lakh boxes of liquor were sold.
On December 27, liquor sales reached Rs 408.58 crore, with around 6.22 lakh IML boxes and 4.04 lakh beer boxes sold, resulting in revenues of Rs 327.50 crore and Rs 80.58 crore, respectively.
The officials from the Excise Department expressed their excitement over the record-breaking liquor sales in the state.
The New Year festivities in major cities, especially in Bengaluru, were celebrated without any incidents.
Extensive preparations were made for the celebrations around the city, with over a lakh people gathering on the iconic M.G. Road and Brigade Road to welcome the New Year between 11 p.m. and midnight.
To ensure public safety during the events, comprehensive security measures were implemented by the government and the Police Department.
More than 2,000 police personnel, both men and women, were assigned to oversee security in the M.G. Road, Brigade Road, and Church Street areas.
Additionally, over 1,000 extra personnel were deployed in the Koramangala area, which is home to a significant tech workforce.
