Jamshedpur, April 21 (NationPress) Vinay Kumar Singh, the national vice president of Karni Sena and Jharkhand state president, was fatally shot in Jamshedpur late Sunday night, sparking significant outrage among his supporters, according to police officials on Monday.
Singh, aged 46, resided in Aastha Space Township in Mango, Jamshedpur.
As per his family, he departed home on Sunday afternoon for business related to land dealings but failed to return by evening. A search commenced, and around 11 p.m., his body was discovered in a bush off a dirt road, roughly 500 meters from NH-33 (Tata-Ranchi Road).
Police reported that he suffered from bullet wounds to the head and multiple injuries across his body.
Authorities arrived shortly after being alerted. A scooty, a mobile phone, and a pistol were retrieved from the scene.
Family members claimed that the pistol was planted near his hand to mislead investigators, asserting that Singh had no criminal history or associations with firearms.
Singh also owned a tile shop close to the Ulidih police station and was known to be engaged in land-related business. Sources indicated that he had received threats a few months prior.
The news of the murder spread swiftly, leading Karni Sena members and supporters to block Dimna Chowk and NH-33 in protest. They demanded the immediate apprehension of those responsible and warned of a larger demonstration if prompt action was not taken.
Protesters criticized the police for the delay in sending an ambulance to transport Singh’s body.
The blockade was lifted around 1 a.m. after the ambulance arrived and the body was sent for a post-mortem examination.
Authorities have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder. DSP Bachan Deo Kujur stated that all possibilities are being explored and assured that the offenders will be brought to justice promptly.
