Jaipur, April 8 (NationPress) The Congress party has taken action by dismissing its district vice president, who has been implicated in a tragic hit-and-run incident in Jaipur that resulted in the death of three individuals and injuries to six others.
Usman Khan, who was driving under the influence, struck pedestrians and has since been apprehended.
Among the deceased were a brother and sister.
Police reports indicate that Usman's SUV first collided with several other vehicles on MI Road before veering into the narrow city streets, where it hit pedestrians. Assistance from local residents facilitated the driver's arrest.
In response, protests emerged outside the Nahargarh police station on Tuesday morning, with citizens calling for compensation for the affected families.
The accident took place around 9:30 p.m. on Monday.
According to Additional DCP (North) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat, Usman, aged 62, inflicted significant damage within a 500-meter stretch.
The injured include Virendra Singh (48), Mamta Kanwar (50), Monesh Soni (28), Mohammad Jalaluddin (44) from Manbag Khor Sharda Colony, Deepika Saini (17), Vijay Narayan (65), Zebunnisha (50), Anshika (24), and Awadhesh Pareek (37), all of whom were quickly transported to the hospital.
At the medical facility, both Mamta Kanwar and Awadhesh Pareek were pronounced dead.
Sadly, Virendra Singh succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday morning.
The condition of the remaining injured individuals remains critical as they receive treatment in the trauma ward at Sawai Mansingh Hospital (SMS).
Khan, a resident of Rana Colony in Shastri Nagar, Jaipur, owns a factory that manufactures iron beds in the Vishwakarma Industrial Area.
The family of the deceased Mamta Kanwar has lodged an FIR against Usman. In light of this incident, local residents expressed their anger, prompting police from four different stations to be deployed around Nahargarh Road and nearby areas to ensure public safety.
The police have confiscated Usman's SUV, and an investigation is currently underway.
