Chandigarh, March 14 (NationPress) Three assailants on motorcycles fatally shot Mangat Rai Manga, the district president of Shiv Sena, in Moga district of Punjab, due to a personal rivalry, as reported by the police on Friday.

In the incident, two others, including an 11-year-old boy, sustained injuries.

The Punjab Police have filed an FIR naming six suspects: Sikandar Singh, Virendra Kumar, Sahil Kumar, Jagga Singh, Shankar, and Arun Singla, indicating the crime stemmed from personal enmity.

In response, Shiv Sena leaders declared a shutdown in Moga town.

Superintendent of Police Bal Krishna Singla informed the media that the three assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire on Mangat Rai Manga. Both the injured, a 12-year-old child and a salon owner, have been hospitalized but are in stable condition.

He added, “We have filed an FIR against six individuals.”

Mangat Rai Manga was taken to a hospital by the police, where he was pronounced dead.

The injured child was initially treated at Moga Civil Hospital and later referred to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital in Ludhiana city.

Manga's daughter recounted that her father departed home around 8 p.m. on Thursday to purchase groceries.

“At 11 p.m., we received news that my father had been shot dead. We seek justice and will pursue it relentlessly,” she expressed.

The police noted that Manga had recently clashed with a group of local adversaries, suggesting that the shooting was likely a consequence of that altercation.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Ajay Gandhi, clarified that this was not a targeted killing nor did it involve a terrorist element.

“This is a case of personal rivalry. An FIR for murder has been lodged against the six suspects identified by the victim’s family. Arrests will be made shortly,” Gandhi stated.
