Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 11 (NationPress) Kerala has reached a significant achievement in its ongoing voter enumeration initiative, surpassing the one-crore milestone in the distribution of enumeration forms as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program.
On Tuesday, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Rathan U. Kelkar announced that this remarkable feat was accomplished within just eight days of the program's launch, showcasing the efficiency and collaboration of the electoral machinery throughout the state.
"It is a source of pride that we have successfully distributed over one crore forms in such a brief period. This reflects the dedication of our field officials and the effective operation of the SIR process," he stated in a press release on Monday.
The SIR initiative is designed to guarantee accurate and current electoral rolls by verifying voter information through door-to-door enumeration and digital validation.
Kelkar noted that the ongoing preparations for the local self-government elections will not interfere with the progress of the SIR exercise.
"Both operations are being conducted simultaneously. The election schedule will not hinder the SIR activities," he emphasized.
Interestingly, the SIR is taking place while three political fronts in Kerala are in a fierce contest for the local body elections on December 9 and 11, which will occur under a different voters' list.
The CEO mentioned that the introduction of newly appointed Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in the upcoming days is expected to expedite the process further.
These officers will manage field verification and ensure that the information of every eligible voter is accurately recorded.
Kelkar encouraged citizens to take advantage of the Election Commission of India's online resources for checking and updating their voter information.
"Online tools provide a convenient and transparent way for voters to verify their details without the need for physical visits," he remarked.
The Chief Electoral Office has instructed all district officials to sustain the momentum in the enumeration drive while ensuring accuracy and inclusivity.
