Palakkad, Jan 29 (NationPress) The children of a 54-year-old man, who was brutally stabbed to death alongside his mother, have called for the death penalty for the perpetrator.

Sudhakaran fell victim to his neighbor, Chenthamara, who was previously released on bail following a charge related to the murder of Sudhakaran's wife.

“Chenthamara took our mother’s life in 2019 and was incarcerated. He was released and went on to murder our father and grandmother. He has been apprehended again, but if he is not given a harsh sentence, he will surely return to society and commit more heinous acts,” lamented Sudhakaran’s daughters, Akhila and Athulya.

“Why did he target our father? He could have simply beaten him and left him. The way he murdered our father, with multiple stab wounds, reveals his true nature. He deserves to be hanged; if not, he will continue his violent ways,” they expressed.

On Monday, Chenthamara, who had been on bail for two months, mercilessly killed Sudhakaran and his 76-year-old mother, Lakshmi.

Palakkad SP Ajith Kumar informed the press that the suspect was detained around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

“We are interrogating Chenthamara, who disclosed that after the crime, he fled into the forest behind his residence,” the police reported.

After several hours without food, he was apprehended while attempting to return home.

Later that day, he will appear before the court, and after a few days, “we will take him into custody once more to reconstruct the crime scene,” Ajith Kumar added.

Following the news of his arrest, a large crowd gathered outside the Nenmara Police Station, demanding Chenthamara's release to face justice. When tensions escalated, police resorted to using pepper spray and lathi-charge to disperse the crowd.
