Palakkad, Jan 29 (NationPress) Chenthamara, a 58-year-old man who has previously taken one life, committed two more murders earlier this week. On Wednesday, he appeared before a court in Kerala's Palakkad and requested a 100-year prison sentence.

Upon being presented to the court by police, Chenthamara stated, "I cannot face my daughter and her husband because they are working, so please give me a 100-year sentence."

When questioned about any injuries on his body, he replied, "No, there are no injuries."

The court then placed him in 14-day judicial custody.

The courtroom was packed with people, leading to a difficult situation for police to maintain order as he was escorted in and out.

Since his arrest, Chenthamara has shown no signs of remorse for his dreadful acts.

On Tuesday night, he remained calm, with police stating in their remand report that he expressed no regret.

Earlier that same day, the children of Sudhakaran, a 54-year-old man who was stabbed to death along with his 76-year-old mother Lakshmi, demanded the death penalty for Chenthamara.

Sudhakaran was killed by his neighbor Chenthamara, who was already out on bail for the murder of Sudhakaran's wife.

"Chenthamara murdered our mother in 2019 and was imprisoned. After getting released, he then killed our father and grandmother. He has been caught again, but he will just be jailed for a few years before being released to kill again," said the children, Akhila and Athulya.

"Why did he do this to our father? He could have just beaten him and left him. The brutality of the stabbing demonstrates what kind of person he truly is. He deserves to be hanged; otherwise, he will continue this cycle of violence," they added.

On Monday, Chenthamara, who had been out on bail for two months, brutally murdered Sudhakaran and his mother Lakshmi.

According to Palakkad Superintendent of Police Ajith Kumar, Chenthamara was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

"He confessed to running into the forest behind his home after committing the crime," police reported.

After hours without food, he was caught on his way back home.

As news of his arrest spread, a crowd gathered outside the Nenmara police station demanding he be released for punishment. To disperse the crowd, police resorted to using pepper spray and a lathi-charge.
